A global investment firm, Apollo Global Management, has named a new chief executive to oversee the renowned Venetian and Palazzo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Patrick Nichols, a seasoned professional in the hospitality sector, will assume leadership from George Markantonis.
Nichols is well-acquainted with the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, having formerly held the position of general manager at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. His remarkable achievements and extensive knowledge of the entertainment and hospitality industries make him a perfect candidate for this esteemed role.
Markantonis, who has played a crucial role in the triumph of The Venetian over the past seven years, will remain for a seamless handover before transitioning to an advisory capacity within Apollo.
Apollo’s executives expressed assurance in Nichols’ capability to expand upon the solid groundwork already established at The Venetian and Palazzo, further cementing their status as top-tier destinations on the Las Vegas Strip. Nichols conveyed his enthusiasm to collaborate with the skilled team at The Venetian and elevate the resorts to even grander levels of success.
This appointment follows just a matter of months after Apollo, in collaboration with VICI Properties, purchased The Venetian for an impressive $6.25 billion, signifying a substantial investment in the future of these iconic properties.
Once a piece of the Las Vegas Sands portfolio, The Venetian is a colossal hotel. It features an astounding 7,100 guest accommodations, a gaming floor encompassing 225,000 square feet, and a conference center so large one could easily lose their way – 2.3 million square feet, to be precise.
