Betfair Reinforces Derby Partnership, Cementing Dedication to Equestrian Sport
Betfair has solidified its connection to the globally recognized Epsom Derby by inking a three-year prolongation of its sponsorship arrangement. This action emphasizes Betfair’s commitment to this esteemed flat racing competition.
The accord grants Betfair title rights to the two-day celebration at Epsom Downs Racecourse, formally designating it the “Betfair Derby Festival.” The collaboration with Jockey Club, slated to continue until at least 2026, seeks to enhance Betfair’s involvement with the sport. The agreement also encompasses supplementary backing for races throughout the festival, which now boasts a total of six races over the two days.
Significantly, this expansion surpasses the original three-year pact revealed earlier this year by an additional 12 months, highlighting Betfair’s escalating dedication.
Fred Done, originator of Betfair, conveyed his excitement, remarking, “Following a remarkable two days at Epsom last year, we are delighted to further bolster our support of the Betfair Derby Festival. We are incredibly eager to collaborate with Amy and her team as we endeavor to guarantee this race remains a zenith of the racing schedule.”
Amy Starkey, Managing Director of Jockey Club Racecourses, mirrored the sentiment, adding, “We have a durable association with Betfair, encompassing numerous major events, and we are thrilled to build upon the triumph of the inaugural Betfair Derby in 2023 with this augmented partnership at Epsom Downs.”
For a considerable period, Betfred has provided substantial support to UK horse racing, a fact widely acknowledged. Collaborating with Fred and his colleagues to highlight the planet’s premier flat racing in 2024 and beyond fills us with great enthusiasm.”
