AstroPay Launches Prepaid Card in Peru to Bridge the Digital Divide

AstroPay, a digital payment platform, is taking steps to enable Peruvian consumers, particularly those lacking traditional banking relationships, to engage in the online marketplace. They have introduced a Visa prepaid card in collaboration with Tebca Perú, permitting users to make purchases at any merchant accepting Visa and accumulate cashback incentives. This card is offered without charge, can be activated immediately, and facilitates transactions in both USD and PEN.

This initiative aligns with AstroPay’s wider objective of bolstering its footprint within the Latin American region, specifically targeting nations such as Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. They have already witnessed positive results with a comparable prepaid card program implemented in the United Kingdom.

AstroPay has established a strong reputation within the online gaming payments industry, and this expansion into the broader financial services sector in Peru underscores their dedication to delivering inclusive and user-friendly financial tools to underserved populations.

Expressing immense excitement about collaborating with financial technology pioneers such as AstroPay to revolutionize online transactions and integrate more individuals and enterprises into the digital financial system,” remarked Gilberto Chaparro, a Visa leader, echoing the company’s worldwide drive for digital accessibility.

Mikael Lijtenstein, head of AstroPay, recently engaged in a conversation with Gambling Insider to delve into the company’s bold expansion plan, emphasizing their dedication to broadening their offerings and molding the trajectory of internet-based payments.
