UK Betting and Gaming Council Welcomes Eased Travel Restrictions to Boost Tourism and Hospitality Sectors

Representatives of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) are experiencing a sense of ease now that travel limitations are relaxing. BGC leader Brigid Simmonds conveyed her excitement during UK Tourism Week, noting that the government’s choice will give a necessary lift to the tourism and hospitality industries still recovering from the global health crisis.

Simmonds, who also holds a position on the Tourism Alliance board, emphasized the beneficial influence this will have on London’s gambling establishments, which can now genuinely participate in the post-pandemic rebound. She discussed her observations of the damaging consequences of COVID-19 on tourism-reliant enterprises and employees, stressing that casinos and wagering shops experienced the downturn’s effects just like any other business.

As she put it, “Casinos, wagering shops and bingo halls have all been affected, but we wholeheartedly embrace the Ministers’ decision to loosen travel limitations to aid in tourism’s recovery.”

Michael Dugher, who leads the Betting and Gaming Council, recently voiced his backing for the UK administration’s economic recovery strategy, mirroring comparable opinions from UK tourism head Sally Balcombe. Dugher stressed the gaming sector’s dedication to assisting the Exchequer’s attempts to rebuild public funds. Concurrently, Balcombe conveyed her positivity regarding the tourism industry’s resurgence, expressing her desire to receive a substantial surge of global travelers to the UK by the arrival of England Tourism Week in 2023.
